Marco Pérez fascinates the aficion. Taken in hand by the former French bullfighter, Jean-Baptiste Jalabert, he might go through the stages like El Juli who became a bullfighter at the age of 15 years and 11 months.
Conversely, other young talents have failed to back up their promises with older, more impressive stock. This is the case of Franco-Mexican Michelito, son of Gersois Michel Lagravère.
Enrolled in a bullfighting school from the age of 4, he had been able to face a novillo from the age of 13 in Mexico, which is still not authorized in France or Spain. At only 14 years, 11 months and 14 days, he had received the alternative (November 25, 2012) in the square of Mérida, in Yucatán, from the hands of the French diester Sébastien Castella, before facing a beast of 610 kilos. He thus became the youngest bullfighter in the world, beating the record set by Luis Miguel Dominguín by 27 days. He has since disappeared from the ruedos.
