The defendant in the so-called ‘Busan round kick’ case, which indiscriminately assaulted a woman in her 20s who had no one to know and lost consciousness, was sentenced to 20 years in prison at the appeals court.

Criminal Division 2-1 of the Busan High Court announced today (12th) that defendant A, who is accused of attempted rape and murder, will be sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The judge said, “The act of taking off the victim’s pants in the CCTV blind spot is fully recognized, and it is judged as an assault for sexual violence, not a simple assault.”

“However, there is not enough evidence that it actually led to sex crimes, so it is not recognized,” he explained.

Mr. A, previously charged with attempted murder, was sentenced to 12 years in prison in the first trial in October of last year.

However, during the appeal trial process, additional evidence was revealed, such as the detection of Mr. A’s DNA in the jeans worn by the victim at the time of the incident, and the original charge was changed to attempted rape and murder.

During the appeal trial, the prosecution requested 35 years in prison, 20 years of probation, and 20 years of probation.

The victim recently appeared on CBS radio and complained of anxiety, saying that Mr. A was memorizing personal information by publicly mentioning retaliation once morest him to fellow prisoners at the Busan Detention Center, causing social resentment.
