DISTRICT OF FREE TOWN. In 2022, 259 companies were founded in the Freistadt district, plus 29 business takeovers. The Chamber of Commerce thus registers a total of 288 new companies. Most start-ups were in the trades and crafts sector (130), followed by the retail (69) and information and consulting (34) sectors.
In Upper Austria, 5,994 new commercial companies were founded in the previous year. Compared to the record year 2021 with 6,032 start-ups, this means a change of minus 0.6 percent. In addition to the start-ups, there were 506 takeovers (2021: 494). This means an increase of 2.4 percent.
