Call to reinforce prevention measures to increase respiratory viruses – discussion

Breaking: Over 96,000 Students Return to Classes Amid Rising Respiratory Virus Infections

As more than 96,000 students prepare to return to classes in the 21 communes of the Ñuble region, health authorities have intensified their call to maintain strict protection measures. The increase in the circulation of respiratory viruses poses a significant risk of infections in educational establishments and the family environment.

Epidemiological Scenario in Ñuble

The epidemiological scenario in Ñuble shows a high presence of respiratory viruses such as Synchical Respiratory Virus (VRS), Rinovirus, and Influenza A. The Seremi de Salud (s) of Ñuble, Gustavo Rojas Medina, has sounded the alarm, emphasizing the importance of vaccination and self-care measures.

Free Influenza Vaccination Extended

In early July, the government extended free vaccination against influenza to the entire population. Rojas highlighted the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine, stating, “The vaccine is safe, free, and is the most effective tool we have to reduce the risk of complications and avoid hospitalizations. Its effect is not immediate, so vaccinating today allows you to face the rest of the winter with greater security.”

Healthcare Network Preparedness

Nicolás Soto Cadena, Deputy Director (s) of Nursing Care Management of the Ñuble Health Service, assured the community of the region’s preparedness. “Our network is prepared to receive all the people who have not yet been vaccinated. We have immunization points in all the region’s CESFAM. There are no excuses not to protect themselves. We make a special call to the parents and caregivers of older adults.”

Self-Care Measures

Health authorities reiterated the importance of maintaining self-care measures such as frequent hand washing, avoiding contact with sick people, and ventilating closed spaces frequently. They also invited the community to visit public and private health centers to get vaccinated.

As the winter season progresses, the region braces for an increase in respiratory infections. Understanding the historical context of influenza outbreaks and the effectiveness of vaccination campaigns can provide valuable insights. Experts recommend boosting immunity through a balanced diet and regular exercise, in addition to getting vaccinated.
