Toronto: Canada says that those who have arrived on a visitor visa can apply for a work permit without leaving the country. Work permit is given to those who are offered a job in the country. Canada has already issued work permits to such people. However, the grace period had ended today. It was extended for another two years.
According to the new decision, work permits will be granted to such visitors till February 25, 2025. Prior to the exemption, a work permit had to be applied for before arriving in Canada. Those who arrived in Canada on a visit visa had to leave the country if they wanted a work permit. This is now a concession.
Canada is experiencing a massive labor shortage post-Covid. A severe labor crisis occurred in the country following the economy recovered. It is estimated that there are regarding 10 lakh job vacancies in Canada.
