CANAL+ announces season 2 of the Marie-Antoinette Original Creation

CANAL+ is pleased to announce the upcoming filming of the new season of Marie-Antoinette, a CANAL+ Original Creation, which will begin this fall.

Marie Antoinette season 2 will continue to tell the extraordinary destiny of the modern and avant-garde young queen embodied by Emilia Schüle alongside the young King Louis XVI played by Louis Cunningham.

While Marie-Antoinette and Louis seem to be at the height of power, they have to face an unprecedented financial crisis. The incessant attacks from Provence and Chartres once morest the royal couple stir up the hatred of the nobles while disastrous consequences are looming with the Collier affair. From Versailles to the Palais-Royal, revolt is brewing…

Marie Antoinette was created by Deborah Davis. Writing for season 2 is led by Louise Ironside, joined by Charlotte Wolf, Francesca Forristal, and Andrew Bampfield. Ed Bazalgette will direct the first episodes.
