Cancellations of flights at airports in southern Russia

Flights were canceled Thursday at the airports of major cities in southern Russia near the border with Ukraine, where Moscow is launching a military operation, the Russian aviation agency announced.

And the agency “Rosaviatsya” stated that the flights were canceled in Rostov, Krasnodar, Sochi, Anapa, Gelendzhik, Ilitsa, Stavropol, Bolgorod, Bryansk, Orel, Kursk and Voronezh, all located near Ukraine or on the Black Sea.

The decision to cancel also includes Simferopol, the capital of Ukraine’s Crimea peninsula, which Moscow annexed in 2014.

The Russian aviation agency added that the decision was made due to the “complex situation in Ukraine”, where during the night Moscow launched a military operation.
She explained that these measures will remain in effect until the second of March.
