Carmelo and Crocifissa: A Love Story from Aragona to Belgium

2023-11-12 02:00:00

The Jubilees are both from Aragona in Sicily. They met at a village festival. Carmelo, born February 16, 1949, had already been in Belgium for around ten years in order to provide for his family. Arriving in Belgium at a very young age, he worked at the Havré glassworks. He then left to work in Brussels before ending his career in 2009 in a factory in Ghlin.

One for the other

In July 1972, Carmelo’s gaze met Crocifissa’s. It clicked! Very quickly, they realize that they are made for each other. However, Angelo must return to Belgium because work awaits him. No matter, love is the strongest and on July 25, 1973, the lovebirds said yes to Aragona. The couple settled in Wasmes following a brief honeymoon in northern Italy.

Initially, Crocifissa worked at Durobor before devoting herself to the education of her four children who would bring her five granddaughters.

Retired, they like to welcome their children and grandchildren but also travel. Crocifissa enjoys embroidery and crochet. As for Carmelo, he has become a Sicilian baker and pastry chef. During the little party this Saturday, the tables were filled with all these southern sweets.

Congratulations to the happy jubilarians.
