Deportivo Pereira qualified for the semifinals of the Betplay Cup following eliminating Independiente Santa Fe in the second leg of the quarterfinal bracket. It was a 2-0 that was played at the Hernán Ramírez Villegas stadium.

In the first 45 minutes, Pereira went ahead in one of the first ones he had in an unfortunate play that ended with Dairon Mosquera scoring in his own goal.

On the 22nd minute, Santa Fe arrived with Hugo Rodallega in a free kick from the striker that hit the right post of Pereira’s goal.

A few moments later, Pereira once once more had another clear chance, this time with Eber Moreno who received it alone, but he might not control it well and this gave Juan Daniel Espitia the opportunity to bail out and avoid Pereira’s goal.

At 32′, Santa Fe came close once more with Rodallega who took a shot, but Juan Sebastián Quintero arrived in time to block the cardinal attacker’s shot.

Already in the second half, Pereira had another arrival in a cross into the area that Espitia barely took out with his hands. The local team requested a penalty for a possible foul by the goalkeeper on a Pereira player, but the judge continued the game normally.

In the 63rd minute, Angelo Rodríguez had a good chance to make it 2-0 with a shot that barely went wide of the Santa Fe goal.

Santa Fe once once more created danger in Aldair Quintana’s goal three minutes later with a great shot by Ever Valencia that the Pereira goalkeeper barely saved from the corner kick. Afterwards, the people of Bogotá would have another chance to declare equality with Fabián Viáfara, which Quintana cleared once more into the corner.

Quintana once once more dressed as a hero in the 77th minute in a play that Fabián Sambueza managed and Yeison Moreno defined, but the Pereira goalkeeper made a great save to clear the danger.

In the 86th minute, Pereira defined things. Arley Rodríguez received a ball following a previous counterattack and took a shot where Espitia left a rebound that Kener Valencia capitalized on to declare the 2-0 and Pereira’s classification in the semifinals.

Given the frustration of the result, Santa Fe finished with ten due to the expulsion of Valencia following a slap on Angelo Rodríguez.

After this result, Pereira will have to wait for a rival in the semifinals since in the next few days there will be a new draw where the keys will be defined.
