The Batman
Directed by Matt Reeves, who did an outstanding job on the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy, The Batman showcases the iconic DC Comics character in a way never seen before in theaters. “The Dark Knight” is not only remarkable for its protagonist, but also for having the best interpretation ever seen in a DC Comics antagonist. Heath Ledger gave a show as Joker, delivering a unique and extremely interesting version of the villain, which was only possible due to the actor’s work together with the director’s vision. With an excellent plot, written in a sublime way, the feature is still considered by many as the best hero movie in history.
The Suicide Squad
After the failure of the 2016 film, virtually no one believed that DC’s team of villains, or anti-heroes, might bounce back. However, that’s where James Gunn stepped in and showed that he knew very well how to use the publisher’s characters. Known for his work at Marvel, being the director of “The Guardians of the Galaxy”, Gunn also proved his worth in the competitor, and today he is even the big boss of DC in theaters.
Reusing characters from the 2016 film, such as Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, the film also brought new names like the Peacemaker, who became a hit played by John Cena. With a lot of humor, a good dose of madness and extremely acidic, The Suicide Squad took the team from absolute failure to success and acclaim.
The Man of Steel
Zack Snyder has a troubled history with DC Comics. While many see the director as a true visionary, there are also those who blame Snyder for the failure of the DCEU. However, “Man of Steel” is certainly one of the director’s hits during his time at Warner.
Being the film that introduced Henry Cavill as Superman, the film truly showed us epic clashes between super-powered beings, with brutal and impactful fight scenes. In addition, if Snyder lost his hand in the following films, at least in the bluebird’s origin film, the director managed to get the tone of the plot and character development right.
Batman (1989)
Whether you’re a longtime fan or someone who’s never seen the film, DC’s first Batman movie is still an excellent choice today. Michael Keaton, who returned to the role in “The Flash”, was immortalized as Batman/Bruce Wayne for delivering a great version of the hero. With an iconic and very striking Gotham, the film also delivered a great version of the Joker, who was played by Jack Nicholson.

Preserving Walloon Heritage: Combating Theft and Protecting Historical Excavation Sites

The Walloon Heritage Minister, Valérie De Bue, filed a complaint, via her administration, for the theft of at least three skeletons from an excavation site of the Walloon Heritage Agency, in Huppaye (Ramillies). The Walloon Region took legal action in Walloon Brabant via a complaint once morest X for burglary, and filed a civil action. The facts were committed in May and June 2023, on a construction site which was prohibited to the public.
The Huppaye excavation site has brought to light numerous remains, in particular a medieval cemetery following the 14th century, and the work is carried out under the direction of the Walloon Heritage Agency. “During the months of May and June 2023, several violations were noted on the site, access to which is nevertheless protected and totally prohibited to the public. Organized individuals stole at least three almost complete skeletons and two supernumerary skulls“, say the officials.
After learning of these facts, Minister De Bue decided that a complaint once morest X would be filed, with the Region becoming a civil party. The objective is to prevent this type of act, impacting the heritage which is a common good for all, from going unpunished. Since the beginning of the legislature, the Minister of Heritage has had to file three complaints of this type, for similar cases committed in Wéris and Tavier. According to the Ukrainian army, it is making further progress in its advance on the southern front. “We are pushing back the enemy,” wrote the commander of the troops deployed in the Zaporizhia region, Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, on his Telegram channel today.
