Lyubertsy doctors operated on a 51-year-old woman with a ruptured colon
A 51-year-old woman was admitted to the regional hospital in the city of Lyubertsy with complaints of severe abdominal pain and fever, reports “Radio 1” press service of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region.
During the examination, the doctors diagnosed the patient with a rupture of the large intestine, which occurred as a result of the formation of a diverticulum – a sac-like protrusion in the sigmoid colon.
This condition threatened the patient with intoxication and blood poisoning, which might lead to death.
The doctors decided to perform an emergency operation.
“Through small punctures, a part of the intestine was taken out of the abdominal cavity, sanitation was carried out to remove the intestinal contents from the abdominal cavity,” – said the head of the surgical department Vladimir Mozzhegorov.
The patient is reported to be in good health and has been discharged from the hospital. The functions of the gastrointestinal tract were completely restored.
