Chase Sexton added his third victory of the AMA Supercross season by winning at Atlanta Motor Speedway on date 13 of the series.
In second place was Justin Barcia, from GasGas, and in third, the German Ken Roczen, from Suzuki.
It was Roczen who grabbed the holeshot in the 450SX class main event, but Sexton moved into the lead on the first lap, ahead of Roczen, Jason Anderson (Kawasaki), Barcia, Adam Cianciarulo (Kawasaki), Cooper Webb (KTM) and Josh Hill (Yamaha).
After 6 minutes into the race, Sexton pulled away from Roczen and Barcia, who were lapping ahead of Webb and Yamaha’s championship leader Eli Tomac.
With 6 1/2 minutes left on the race clock, Barcia moved into second, but by then Sexton was 4 seconds ahead, so he put in some smooth, fast laps and established himself in the lead.
Late in the race Tomac climbed onto the rear wheel of Webb’s bike just as Aaron Plessinger (KTM) caught up with both, but with two laps to go Webb pulled away from Tomac and Plessinger.
As the finish flames ignited, Sexton recorded his tenth 450SX class win and cut the points gap in the title chase to 17 with four races remaining. Tomac continues as the leader, with 292 points; Webb is second with 286 and Sexton third with 275.

Australian Honda’s Hunter Lawrence dominated in the 250SX East class and stretched his points lead to 45 in the championship standings.
Lawrence won the holeshot and immediately jumped into the lead, but he pushed his way through and lost form in a rhythm section and went off the track, which Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan took advantage of to take the lead.
