Rui did not want to stop working for financial reasons.

On March 1, Veturilo appeared in a completely new version. The bikes are brand new, and above all, the method of rental and return has changed dramatically. There is no longer an electric lock, and the whole process takes place via the application on the phone and takes a few seconds.
Strong opening
The first day, March 1, is exactly 7,181 rentals. It was the third best inauguration since the beginning of Veturilo’s existence, i.e. until 2012. In March, this number is exactly 272,233. Since the beginning of March, over 44,000 people have registered in Veturilo.
The numbers are high, although in some years in the past there were more bicycles and stations in Warsaw. A year ago, in March, only regarding 261,000 city bikes were rented.
This can be explained by a number of changes that have taken place at Veturilo since the new year. All bikes are brand new. The process of renting and returning a bike is much simpler (the lock is built directly into the bike), there is an additional option to return the bike outside the stations. The popular tandems, i.e. two-person bicycles, are back. But electric bikes are a hit.
Popular “electrics”
There are 300 electric bicycles in the system. As many as 54.7 thousand. rentals, i.e. over 20 percent, fell on electric bikes, although they currently account for less than 10 percent. the entire fleet. And regardless of the fact that they are more expensive – up to 20 minutes a ride on both a regular and electric bike costs PLN 0, but with longer use, the first hour of a regular bike costs PLN 1, and an electric bike – PLN 6.
The top 5 most frequently used two-wheelers are also electric bikes, each of them has been used more than 250 times. The most sought-following bike was rented as many as 263 times a month. For comparison, the most loaded traditional bicycle was rented 155 times, and the tandem 136 times.
Apart from stations, in additional “return zones” – i.e. at specially marked racks, but without a post marking “stations” – approx. all rentals. This involves an additional fee of PLN 15. But for returning the bike to the station (e.g. renting it in the zone and returning it at the station), the user receives a bonus of PLN 5. Varsovians received 8,612 such five-zloty bonuses in March.
Veturilo is growing all the time
The season started with 300 stations and 3,030 publicly funded bikes. Within a month, 8 more stations joined them, and the number of bicycles increased to 3,115. The private partners of the project – mainly office parks and shopping centers – financed seven stations. At the beginning of April, the first additional station financed by the district office was launched in Rembertów. The number of sponsor and district stations will continue to grow throughout the spring. New rental stations in Mokotów, Włochy, Ursynów and Ochota are in preparation.
Most rentals were in Śródmieście – as many as 65,000. – because there are the most stations there. The next districts are Wola – 36,000, Ochota – 27,000. Mokotów – 26,000, South Praga. – 17,000, Praga Pn. – 14 thousand and Ursynów – 11 thousand.
Most often, the bicycle is used for transport between universities and metro or tram stations. The most popular routes are “student” rides – from al. Niepodległości/Batory to Banacha/UW, from UKSW/Marymoncka to Dewajtis and from Metro Ursynów to Jastrzębowski/SGGW. The cycling connection of ul. Heroldów with the Młociny metro station and access from ul. Stryjeński to the Natolin and Kabaty subways.
The basic form of renting bikes is a mobile application. This was 99.5% of the time. rentals. It can also be done via the helpline available from the level of the Municipal Contact Center Warszawa 19 115, but it is a supplementary solution used by a small number of people.
The city is working with the operator – Nextbike – on the development of the application. The program has already undergone several updates, consisting mainly of user interface fixes.
