Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was “quite angry” the day following the announcement of cuts of 4,800 jobs at BCE and the sale of 45 of its regional radio stations, not hesitating to use quite flowery language.
“This is a crappy decision,” Mr. Trudeau said in English, speaking of a “garbage decision” when asked regarding it during a press scrum on Friday.
PMJT just went off on Bell, saying it was a “garbage decision from a corperation that should know better” to layoff journalists and other workers.

“I’m quite upset by what just happened,” he added, visibly furious with the parent company of Bell Media.
According to him, the takeover of local media by large media conglomerates in recent years has led to a change in the quality of the offer to citizens.
“This is an erosion not only of journalism, of quality local journalism at a time when people need it more than ever given disinformation, but also of our democracy itself.” , he insisted.
Stressing the need to keep “these local voices,” the Prime Minister argued that Canadian companies have “abdicated their responsibilities to the communities from which they have always derived good profits.”
When the cuts were announced on Thursday, its Minister of Heritage Pascale St-Onge also did not hesitate to express her dissatisfaction with this decision.
“At a time when the entire industry should be pulling together, we see that Bell decides to protect dividends and shareholders, then, believe me, I’m happy that there are shareholders who are making money, but today they preferred to throw out 4,800 people and back down on their commitments in terms of news bulletins, so it’s extremely disappointing,” she declared.

Pope Francis met with the community of bishops, priests, monks and nuns who came from Argentina for the sanctification of ‘Mamma Antula’. In his homily following greeting them, the Pope recalled the services of Blessed Maria Antonia de San José (Maria Antonia of V. Joseph) for the poorest.
C. Roubini Chinnapa9 CTC, Vatican News
The Pope said that in a society that tries to believe that everything consists in removing all restrictions for the fulfillment of its own desires and forgets that radical selfishness is the most difficult virus to defeat, we can draw from this Holy Spirit the inspiration of love and tenderness for our brother.
Pointing to Maria Antonia, who stood in Buenos Aires holding only a crucifix, the Pope said, “Let us not forget that the path to holiness is one of faith and surrender.” She trusted that her apostolic mission would be his work, not taking her safety on herself but entrusting it to God. Pope Francis underlined that Mamma Antula’s upbringing and the foundation of her every work was the same Ignatian spirituality that everyone has a calling but it should be for the glory of God and the salvation of souls. The Pope recalled that she herself took up Ignatian meditation to help others follow Jesus, and that she did so secretly because of the resentment once morest the Church of Jesus in Argentina.
The Holy Father reminded them that the Blessed Father’s message to us is to challenge our adversities with the joy of the Gospel, rooted in the Lord and without giving up our good intention to bring the Gospel to everyone, when the circumstances are reversed in order to preserve the faith. Papa did not forget that this negative situation can be our workplace or family itself.
V. Highlighting her devotion to Joseph and her zeal for the Holy Sacrifice, the Pope exhorted by quoting the verses of the Vatican Synod that the Holy Divine Mercy is the center of the entire Christian life and from there our apostolic activities should spring.
