Russia – The Russian company “Rosatom” plans to implement a long-term program with the UAE’s “DP World” to ship goods by container through the Russian Northern Shipping Corridor.

The project is expected to provide an annual traffic volume of up to 800,000 TEUs, and it is planned to build container ships to ship goods through the corridor.

The Northern Navigation Corridor extends across the Arctic Circle and connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Russia is working rapidly to develop it, as it continues to manufacture an additional number of icebreakers to accompany commercial ships, and to supplement its largest fleet of icebreakers in the world.

The Northern Strait is expected to become a major trade route between Europe and Asia.

It is announced that VŠT will annually sell 99 gigawatt hours (GWh) more heat and 5.5 GWh more electricity produced from renewable sources, as well as regarding 9.6 GWh of waste heat from industrial enterprises. At that time, the company’s heat production capacity from renewable sources will increase by 24.8 megawatts (MW), electricity by 1.5 MW.

After the transaction, VŠT will also receive 6.2 kilometers of the district heating network in the Klaipėda Free Economic Zone (LEZ).

“Miestos energija” manages the local heat supply network in the Klaipėda SEZ, while “Pramones energija” produces heat and electricity in the cogeneration biofuel boiler house and supplies it to the Klaipėda networks. 100 percent energy is produced from renewable sources and waste heat.

“Pramones energija” and “Miesto energija” remained unsold following the Competition Council last year did not allow “Gren Lietuva” of the Northern European energy group “Gren” to acquire all seven companies controlled by the company “Šiluma miestams” controlled by “E Energija”. “Gren Lietuva” acquired control of “Šiluma miestas” and indirectly took over only five companies.

“It’s just a matter of concrete contribution to what side these SMEs will make in the electric vehicle ecosystem. If there are interesting and prospective breakthroughs, of course the government must encourage them,” said Mulyanto.

Contacted separately, researcher from the Indonesian Center for Reform on Economics (CoRE) Yusuf Rendy Manilet said the government might provide incentives and regulations that support SMEs to take part in the electric vehicle ecosystem. The ongoing development of electric vehicle technology provides opportunities for SMEs to innovate and create new products.

Entering the electric vehicle ecosystem also opens up access to new markets that are growing rapidly for SMEs. “SMEs that are able to adapt to electric vehicle technology will increase their competitiveness in the global market, increasing the potential for partnerships with large companies in the electric vehicle industry to develop new products and technology,” said Yusuf. “Thus, taking advantage of this opportunity can bring significant benefits to the growth and sustainability of SMEs in the transportation equipment sector,” he added.

According to him, the government can provide support to SMEs to enter the electric vehicle ecosystem through technical training, market and regulatory education, as well as technical assistance.
