Apple issued a notice to users earlier, announcing that “my photo stream” will be officially shut down on July 26, 2023. After June 26, users will no longer be able to upload new photos to the service, and content uploaded before this date will remain in iCloud for 30 days and be available to all users who have enabled “My Photo Stream” device downloads. Because the images in My Photo Stream are stored on at least one device, you won’t lose any photos during the transition as long as you have the device with the original files on it. Of course, if the file you want does not exist in a specific iPhone, iPad or Mac collection, it is best to complete the corresponding storage operation as soon as possible.
First launched in 2011, My Photo Stream automatically uploads and downloads up to 1,000 photos a user has taken in the last 30 days between iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and Windows computers. Although the service does not have a backup function, it does not take up iCloud storage space, so it has long attracted many people to use it. Now that “My Photo Stream” is regarding to be shut down, it’s no surprise that Apple recommends that you switch to “iCloud Photos”. But whether users buy it, we can only wait and see.
