BERLIN (AP) — Hertha Berlin were relegated to the second division on Saturday following conceding a goal in the fourth minute of added time to draw Bochum 1-1 in the Bundesliga.
Former Berlin Union defender Keven Schlotterbeck headed in the goal that sent Hertha back to the second division.
It is the seventh time that Hertha has been relegated from the Bundesliga. Only Nuremberg (9) and Arminia Bielefeld (8) have been relegated more times.
Hertha needed victory to postpone their potential relegation until the final day of the season and things seemed to be going well for the home team following Lucas Tousart finally opened the scoring with a header from Marco Richter’s corner the 64 minutes.
Both teams hit the post in the final minutes before Schlotterbeck was left to head home.
With this result, Hertha remains last with 26 points and with no opportunity to climb to 16th position. Bochum, which did not have a guaranteed permanence either, has 32 units.
Schlotterbeck and his Bochum teammates ran to celebrate in front of the away fans, while the rest of the stadium fell silent. Some Hertha fans set off firecrackers that were heard in the Olympic Stadium, while others booed and hissed at the team as it approached following the final whistle.
Schalke have 31 points in the relegation playoff zone following drawing 2-2 with Eintracht Frankfurt at home.
The Berlin Union might not consolidate its position to qualify for the next Champions League with the 4-2 defeat once morest Hoffenheim.
Later, Bayern Munich receives Leipzig. A win would bring them closer to their 11th straight Bundesliga title. Bayern have one more point than Borussia Dortmund, who still have two games to play.
Dortmund faces Augsburg on the road on Sunday before the last round next weekend in which Bayern visits Cologne and Dortmund hosts Mainz.

Skopje – In the non-Olympic whitewater regatta, Austria has won a bronze medal at the European Championships, the first in this sport since 2008 for the domestic canoe association. Nadine Weratschnig and Valentina Kroener only had to admit defeat to France (Margot Beziat and Elsa Gaubert) and Italy (Cecilia and Alice Panato) in the Canadier twos in the sprint. The highlight of the season is the World Championships from June 9th to 11th in Augsburg. (APA, red, 20.5.2023)

The Lakers return empty-handed from Colorado. They have not won a win on the Nuggets floor and are now down 2-0. Nikola Jokic and his troop arrive full of confidence at the Crypto.com Arena and are ready to finish the job at 90% tonight (2:30 a.m.) by pocketing a third victory in a row.
At the end of Game 2 where Jamal Murray had decided to take the series on his own, LeBron James took the time to express his feelings regarding the start of the series where everyone already sees LA eliminated following two defeats in a row. “It’s not the NCAA tournament, it’s the first four-win team,” and not just one like in college basketball. It is also normal to go home fallen to 0-2 in postseasonespecially once morest Denver, which has still not lost a home game in these 2023 Playoffs. The audience at the Ball Arena wear Nikola Jokic and his men, but the audience at the disastrous Staples Center also wears the King and his soldiers. They also haven’t lost at home since the end of the regular season. So for this Game 3, as Mr. James says, we will have to improve like in Game 2 to be able to overthrow the Nuggets.
“This is not the NCAA tournament. It’s the first team to 4 wins… If we can get better from Game 2 like we did tonight to Game 3, then we’ll put ourselves in a position to do that.”

Tonight, getting back into a position to beat the Nuggets is more than necessary, because otherwise it will be a nice 3-0 for the band of the double Serbian MVP. And 0-3 in the Playoffs… no one has ever overcome this huge gap. If this scenario were to happen, we would have to win four games in a row. In other words, beat a confident team that’s just waiting for the fourth win to finally reach for the NBA title. And that also means the Lakers have to win three games on the small chicken parts floor, still undefeated at home. If the Nuggets win tonight, the fate will be almost irreversible for the Lakers, and some will already start booking their hotel for Cancun. On the other hand, if the Lakers win, they will allow fans to dream of a comeback, and it is not the King James who will be once morest winning his 42nd career Playoff series.
