For several days, blockages of oil depots have been recorded in Brittany. A protest movement which is not without consequences on fuel stocks, since several areas are already starting to record shortages.
In fact, construction professionals have started blocking actions for several days, to demand new taxation on GNR. Just like farmers, this non-road diesel is used in particular for construction machinery. After Lorient, it was the Brest oil depot which was blocked by demonstrators on February 8. Actions which are already having an impact on fuel stocks at service stations in the region. If these protests increase, the fuel shortage might even spread to other regions of the country.
As for the regions where shortages have been recorded until now. Brest is one of the first, a U Express Kerichen station has had more fuel since last Thursday. In addition, two Total and Intermarché stations are recording a shortage of SP95. Plouzané is also affected by the lack of fuel. Access to Carrefour station is completely closed. In Guilers, the E.Leclerc center station is also closed due to a fuel shortage.
Several other Breton towns are also impacted by the fuel shortage. These include Plougastel-Daoulas and Relecq-Kerhuon. The country of Iroise is also affected by a lack of fuel stock. Some stations have implemented a 20 liter limit for customers, while others are completely out of stock. The towns concerned include Saint-Renan, Ploudalmézeau, Plougonvelin.
In the Pays des Abers, same observation in the stations of Plabennec and Lannilis. In the Pays de Landreau, certain stations were forced to close due to fuel shortages. Others record shortages of SP98, such as in Landreau, Daoulas, Dirinon and La Martyre. Same observation in the Pays de Châteaulin where several stations were forced to limit the quantities of fuel served to customers due to lack of stocks.
On Monday, the Minister of Economy and Finance indicated that a cancellation of the increase in the tax on GNR was not possible. However, a refund of the surcharge paid this year would be possible in 2025, reports France Bleu. This TICPE reimbursement should concern companies with fewer than 15 employees whose annual consumption is less than 300,000 liters.

Margaret Tyler Research Fellow in Geography, Dr Evelina Gambino, and photographer, Jess Gough, are collaborating on a mixed media project titled “Infrastructural Afterlives”, documenting how investment in infrastructure is transforming ecosystems, social relations and ideas of the future in the Republic of Georgia.
Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Georgia, has sought to become a key infrastructural node connecting Europe and Asia, yet in the past three decades, many infrastructural projects have become sites of contestation and several have been halted, leaving visible scars across the country. Traveling across the diverse territories where large infrastructures are set to rise, Gough and Gambino are piecing together a multi-vocal and unfinished infrastructural story that depicts the popular uprisings, ecological damage, engineering feats, logistical hurdles and awkward encounters at stake in Georgia’s attempt to become a transit corridor.
The first section of this project, published in Atmos, documents the struggle once morest a large dam project that, if successful, would entail the submergence of the fertile Rioni Valley just north of Georgia’s second largest city Kutaisi. For the locals who have been opposing this project, this is not a struggle once morest a single infrastructure. Rather, in defending their rural way of life, they oppose to the developmental vision that has dominated Georgia’s recent history that has led to the privatization of large territories and the exploitation of their natural resources.
