An archaeological research team made a spectacular discovery in Denmark, not far from Odense, the country’s third largest city. Experts identified runes carved on a small knife, the oldest writing known from Scandinavia. As the Odense Museum reported on Monday, these are said to be the oldest runes in Denmark that have been found so far – a unique artifact. Given the difficulty of exact dating, people are probably cautious regarding using superlatives such as the “oldest runes in the world”. But even in international comparison there are very few objects decorated with runes that come from this period. The knife is dated to around 150, so it is around 2,000 years old.

Interview with Mohamed Jaouad Arsalane, president of the private education commission of the CGEM of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region
Mohamed Jaouad Arsalane, president of the private education commission of the CGEM of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, talks to us regarding the objective of the first meeting of the said commission, held Thursday January 18 and the challenges to be met to boost the sector.
ALM: Why did you choose “Challenges and prospects for private education in the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region: from resilience to the development of the sector” as the theme of this meeting?
Mohamed Jaouad Arsalane: The choice of theme is not trivial. Our sector has been facing several challenges for years, including overcoming the effects of the Covid-19 crisis and successfully completing the recovery stage. We managed as best we might to adapt to the context and go digital in record time. This crisis was a wake-up call for the teaching sector. We were able, as professionals, to draw conclusions such as the need for training in new information technologies as well as the need to establish collaborations and partnerships with public organizations and establishments of a social or administrative nature ( Anapec, CNSS, OFPPT, etc.).
What is the main objective of this meeting?
The objective of this meeting is to make the private education commission of the CGEM-TTA, which includes basic, college and secondary education as well as higher education and vocational training, known to our colleagues in the TTA region. . We took the opportunity to invite several speakers from public institutions to highlight the various support programs offered to the sector. We would like to thank, at the same time, the various provincial and regional directors who accompanied and supported us for this first meeting of the commission. The success of this meeting is largely due to their collaboration and the quality of their interventions.
How is the private education sector performing in the TTA region?
The private education sector is made up of small, medium and large structures. These different establishments have common problems but also suffer from the difficulties specific to each of them. Each school tries to survive, in its own way, the problems it faces, whereas by joining forces, we can help each other and find common solutions, have more representativeness and raise our voices to the highest level during interactions with students. different organizations and partners involved.
What is the contribution of the CGEM-TTA commission to the sector in the north?
We benefit, like all CGEM commissions, from the support, logistics and know-how of a respected and well-represented institution in all regions of Morocco. We defend our rights as entrepreneurs who have chosen this sector for the general good and to participate in the construction of the Morocco of the future by training qualified people who can meet all challenges.
Don’t you think that professionals from the North took a lot of time to create their commission within the CGEM?
It is the first commission dedicated to private education at the regional level. This commission would not have been possible without the unwavering support of Adil Rais and Chaibia Balbzioui Alaoui, respectively president and vice-president of the CGEM-TTA. We also encourage the creation of new commissions to defend the interests of professionals and support them in order to support and boost the sector.
What are the most popular sectors in private higher education in the North?
The most popular sectors in higher education are primarily logistics in middle management. It is the most advanced and most requested training and provides the link between top management and operators. Training in NICT is, in turn, very popular with our young people wishing to evolve in the digital world. There is reason to recall a glaring lack of specialized institutes and training centers, according to a study carried out by the logistics and transport commission of the CGEM-TTA.

Motorola might become the 3rd largest cell phone brand in three years, according to the new goal set by Matthew Zielinski, president of international markets at Lenovo, during an interview released on Thursday (18) by CNBC.
To achieve this, there will be a new strategy with more aggressive investments in the “premium” cell phone segment, which is currently dominated by Apple and Samsung. Zielinski believes that the pillar of his new methods will be a new generation of the Motorola Razr, its foldable “clamshell” cell phone that is available on the market with a focus on a variety of prices.
“I would bet that, in three years, we will be number 3 worldwide”, said the Lenovo executive, reiterating that the company intends to increase its market share geographically, seeking to grow in a “stable” way in the markets where it has the lowest market share until reaching a share close to 10%.
Penetrating the global market podium will not be a simple task for Motorola, since, combined, Apple and Samsung have a share of almost 40% in the segment. Xiaomi, in 3rd place, holds more than 12% of market share. Data from Counterpoint suggest that Motorola and Lenovo together ranked 8th in Q3 2024.
Interestingly, Motorola is already extremely popular in selected markets — specifically in Latin America, a macro-region in which it is the 2nd largest manufacturer. It is estimated that the brand occupies the same position in Brazilsecond only to Samsung, but maintaining a fierce dispute with Apple.
Zielinski didn’t outline a broader strategy during the interview, but considering the goal is short-term, it shouldn’t be long before consumers notice the effects of Lenovo’s future investments in Motorola.
