Abu Dhabi, October 13 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Poetry Festival 2023, which is held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) and continues until October 15, reviewed the stages of development of Arabic poetry through the various eras through the “Poetry Trail” platform.

The platform is the icon of the festival, where visitors learn interactively regarding different stations in Arabic poetry.

The platform, which was prepared by a number of experts, specialists and historians in the history of Arabic poetry, both classical and Nabati, includes 9 stations starting from Souq Okaz, and ending with Abu Dhabi’s role in poetry and literature and the efforts made by the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee – Abu Dhabi in empowering poets through its many programs, including, The Millionaire’s Poet, the Prince of Poets, and the Reversed.

Saeed bin Karaz Al Muhairi, advisor to the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee, explained that the “Poetry Trail” constitutes a platform for positive interaction with the festival’s audience. Through the platform’s stations, the visitor can learn in a simplified manner the history of Arabic poetry and the most important developments that have occurred in it over the different eras. In addition to being a distinctive interactive experience, the platform also provides an educational experience suitable for all festival visitors.

The first station of the “Path Path” platform starts from Okaz Market, where the role of this market is highlighted as one of the most important stations of pre-Islamic poetry and its role as a cultural center. After that, the Poetry Path platform passes to its second station, which concerns the seven female commentators and their poets.

The platform then moves from pre-Islamic poetry to its third station, which is the tramps, and among the most prominent poets of that period that the platform reviews and their poems are Urwa ibn al-Ward, al-Shanfari, Tabat Shara, and al-Salik ibn Salka, while the fourth station highlights the poems and poems that appeared, from the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs until the end of The Umayyad Caliphate, and sheds light on its poets and the characteristics of their poems. Among the most notable of them are Hassan bin Thabit and Kaab bin Zuhair.

The platform takes the visitor to its fifth station to highlight the most prominent poets of the Umayyad and Abbasid eras and the most important characteristics of the poem in the two periods.

The sixth station on the platform highlights the most important features and characteristics of Andalusian poetry, which includes the art of stanzas and its most important poets, and this station sheds light on the most important poets of that period.

The visitor then arrives at the seventh station on the “Poetry Trail” platform to learn regarding the history of Nabati poetry. The station highlights the most important characteristics of this poetry and its most prominent poets.

Women have a clear share in this platform. The platform takes the visitor to a special path that reviews the role of women poets in the sky of Arabic poetry, both classical and Nabati, and among the most prominent poets that the platform showcases are Al-Khansa’, Hind bint Utba, Laila Al-Akhailiyya, Alia bint Al-Mahdi, and among the Nabataean poets are Bint Bin Dhaher and Afraa bint Saif Al Mazrouei, Aousha bint Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Bakhout Al Mariah, Noura Al Hoshan, and Khadraa Al Qahtaniya.
Before the visitor’s trip ends, the platform at the eighth station displays the most prominent poets of the modern era and the characteristics of their poems.

At the end of the visitor’s journey to the platform, the visitor arrives at the ninth station: Abu Dhabi and Literature, which highlights Abu Dhabi’s pioneering role in being one of the most prominent Arab capitals that embraces Arabic poetry through its pioneering role in preserving heritage and culture, and empowering poets through programs such as Million’s Poet, And the prince of poets, and the reverses.
