Sony on Thursday introduced the Xperia 1 V, which would be the world’s first high-end smartphone with an all-new stacked CMOS image sensor, with dual-transistor layer pixels, it claims. It will cost 1399 francs from the end of June.
How far will the Nippon go this time with its latest flagship? According to Sony, “The Xperia 1 V further improves image capture with its newly designed sensor, which delivers superb color and texture for people, landscapes and diverse scenes, even in low light.”

This ultimate version would be particularly efficient in low light. Sony claims to have doubled it compared to the previous model! “The 24mm module on the back of the Xperia 1V features a stacked CMOS image sensor with dual-transistor layer pixels: dubbed ‘Exmor T for mobile’, it’s regarding 1.7 times larger than the previous image sensor. The event will take place on June 8th at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California and will feature a range of content from some of the biggest publishers in the industry.
Who’s in? Partners announced by Keighley include Activision, Amazon Games, Bandai Namco, Capcom, CD Projekt Red, Devolver, Disney, EA, Epic Games, Focus, Gearbox Publishing, Grinding Gear Games, Kabam, Larian, Magic the Gathering, Netflix, Unter other Nexon, Niantic, Paradox, Pearl Abyss, Phoenix Labs, PlayStation, Razer, Sega, Square Enix, Steam, Techland, Ubisoft, Warner Bros. Games and Xbox.
