WILMINGTON, NC – Lorraine Bernice Schnaebele, a longtime resident of Charles County, Maryland, and recently of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, surrounded by family at teh age of 97. Born january 1, 1928, in Washington D.C., lorraine lived a rich and fulfilling life, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew her.

Lorraine dedicated her career to public service, retiring from the Federal Communications Commission in January 1986. Though, her passions extended far beyond her professional life.She pursued a variety of interests, including horseback riding, painting, and travel, demonstrating an adventurous spirit. A testament to her bold nature, Lorraine even achieved the remarkable feat of learning to fly a plane.
