CGSP Strike Pickets at Onem Office: Uncovering Onem’s Restructuring Impact on Employment and Accessibility

2023-10-30 12:43:37

Strike pickets are present this Monday morning in front of the offices of the National Employment Office (Onem), in La Louvière. This is a surprise action by the CGSP. “This action follows the restructuring desired by Onem which reduces employment and accessibility of Onem in the provinces“, explains Calogero Morina, CGSP-Admi regional secretary.

In September, actions had already taken place in front of the Tournai offices, threatened with closure like those in Mouscron and Huy. “The La Louvière offices are not among those which will close, we are told, but the staff are worried regarding the future, they feel insecure. We are talking regarding clusters, groupings of services. In the future, where should La Louvière employees go to work? Maybe in Mons, Charleroi, Namur? They don’t know it. There is a loss of confidence in the face of management that communicates one way, without opening a dialogue on possible alternatives. dit Calogero Morina.
