The leader of the junta in Chad, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, flew to Doha on Friday, ahead of the expected signing of a peace agreement with rebels on Monday, according to the official website of the Chadian presidency.

His plane took off from the airport in the capital N’Djamena around 12:30 GMT, noted an AFP journalist. Talks between the government and armed groups began in March, following several postponements, to end decades of unrest and instability in the country of 16 million people.
