Challenge League: Lausanne mates Xamax and temporarily takes the lead in the standings

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

In the Romand derby of the Challenge League, Lausanne-Sport assumed its status in front of the red lantern Neuchâtel Xamax. The Vaudois won 2-0 thanks to goals from Koyalipou (penalty) and Okuka.

The Vaudois were not paid for their efforts. Worse, they found themselves in danger on a penalty generously awarded to the Xamaxiens (82nd). Raphaël Nuzzolo (39) transformed him, but the Lausanne residents managed to maintain their advantage to regain the lead in the Challenge League. Wil might nevertheless regain this position on Saturday thanks to a success in Bellinzona.

The game was marked by the injury of Lausanne resident Mickaël Nanizayamo. After a duel for the conquest of the ball, the French defender remained on the ground. He was treated for long minutes before being evacuated from the field with a neck brace.
