The black demands for a tightening of criminal law for climate adhesives seem to have petered out. At the beginning of the year, Lower Austria’s governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP) wooed her car-savvy clientele with the idea that road blockades should be covered by the penal code in the future during the hot phase of voting. To this day, nothing has come of the roar of the election campaign, the legal situation is still the same: In contrast to Germany, where the blockades fall under the definition of coercion, this form of action is not sanctioned with judicial penalties.
