The legendary merenguero José Abreu Vargas -Cheché- died this Tuesday night as a result of a cardiac arrest. He was 81 years old.
His death was confirmed to Diario Libre by Pochy Familia, secretary of the board of directors of the Dominican Society of Artists, Interpreters and Executives (Sodaie).
Abreu was admitted to the Rodríguez Santos Clinic, in the National District, due to complications from COVID-19.
Today in the morning he was taken out of the care unit, because he had presented an improvement.
