On Monday August 14, a 4-year-old child was admitted to the Jolimont hospital in La Louvière, communicates the Mons prosecutor’s office. He had gunshot wounds and his life was in danger. A bullet punctured his lung.

The parents were immediately deprived of their liberty. It turned out that they had a firearm in their home without permission.

The investigation showed that it was one of the victim’s brothers who, while playing with the weapon, accidentally fired a shot at the child.

A medical examiner and a ballistics expert were called in for the investigation.

The child is now out of danger. He got out of the hospital.

The parents were released but they are charged with illegal possession of weapons subject to authorization and involuntary assault and battery through lack of foresight.

The Youth Assistance Service (SAJ) also took up the case.
