A great date that is exciting for Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Chilean canoeist Maria José Mailliard became this Monday world record of the C1 1000 meter test.

In a new update of the historical results of the International Canoe Federation, the national athlete established a time of 4:24.958 at the Duisburg World Cup, breaking the Ukrainian’s previous record Liudmyla Luzan (4:25.314).

And that’s not all. The double silver medalist at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games (in the C1 200 and C2 500) is in the second position in the historical ranking of the C1 5000 meters.

Remember that Mailliard became Team Chile’s second qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games last August, following achieving the fifth place of the C1 200 meters in Duisburg.

Then, the national team shone once more on German soil by winning the victory and the gold medal in the C1 1000.
