Chimay Hospital Partners with Fourmies Maternity Ward for Deliveries – Comforting Solutions for Patients and Staff

Since April, no more births have taken place in Chimay. The management of the establishment suspended them due to a shortage of medical staff. Taken last spring, the decision will be extended until the end of the year.

In this context, the management of the Fagnes Health Center worked on a “local alternative”. This involves cooperation with the Fourmies maternity ward where Belgian patients will be welcomed for their delivery in the presence of Chimacian midwives. All perinatal consultations are maintained at the Fagnes Health Center in collaboration with doctors from the Charleroi University Hospital, the “sister establishment” of the Chimacian hospital.

This cooperation goes in the direction of the comfort of the patients but also in that of the satisfaction of the Belgian and French staff, who find in the collaboration “motivating perspectives” according to the management of the Fagnes Health Center.

Belgian and French hospital managers are also considering the possibility of building a real mother-child center, the Fagnes Health Center also announced.
