The World Health Organization (WHO) announces that it has sent a team to China to assess the compliance of Chinese vaccines “with international qualified manufacturing practices”.
“I am delighted that a WHO team is currently in China to work with vaccine producers Sinovac and Sinopharm to assess their compliance with international qualified manufacturing practices” before their inclusion in the list of use in emergency established by the WHO, said its director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, whose remarks are reported by the New China agency, spoke during a press briefing.
According to its CEO, the WHO continues to call on vaccine producers around the world to take swift action to provide the statistics necessary to enable them to be included in the emergency use list.
“While we are optimistic about the safe and effective vaccines that are being rolled out, we want it to be accelerated and the vaccines to be distributed fairly in the weeks to come,” said the WHO director general.
