American filmmaker Christopher Nolan has been crowned best director of the past 25 years by readers of the website Rotten Tomatoesahead of Quebecer Denis Villeneuve.
Nearly 30,000 Internet users voted in the final of this competition organized by the editorial team of Rotten Tomatoes, a famous review aggregation site which marks its 25th anniversary this year. Christopher Nolan (Inception, Oppenheimer) obtained 56% of the votes while Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Blade Runner 2049) collected 44%.
To reach the final of the competition, Villeneuve had easily won his five previous duels, once morest filmmakers like Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Babel, Birdman), Bong Joon-Ho (Parasite) and Damien Chazelle (La La Land). In all, 64 outstanding directors of the past 25 years were on the starting line at the start of the competition.
