Vienna (OTS) – “Julia Gschnitzer was a dazzling figure in the Austrian theater and film landscape. In countless roles on the country’s stages and in front of the camera, she shaped Austrian drama like no other. With her, we also have to say goodbye to an important part of Austrian acting history.
At the Volkstheater, which she helped shape for more than three decades, she played Marthe Rull in Kleist’s “The Broken Jug”, Frau Flamm in Gerhard Hauptmann’s “Rose Bernd” and Kate Keller in Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons”. With roles in films such as “Der Fall Jägerstätter” and “Die Siebtelbauern” she made an unforgettable contribution to Austrian film history. The role of Jedermann’s mother at the Salzburg Festival was a key milestone in her impressive stage career. My condolences go especially to her friends and, of course, her family,” said City Councilor for Culture Veronica Kaup-Hasler.
