On the official site for the anime adaptation of the light novels written by Shougo Kinugasa and illustrated by Shunsaku Tomose, Classroom of the Elite (Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e), the production of a sequel was officially announced. The press release included a special illustration by Tomose, and confirmed that a special broadcast has been scheduled for March 6 through Kadokawa’s official channel.
The broadcast will take place on March 6 at 8:00 p.m. (Japan time) and will feature the participation of voice actors. Shouya Chiba and Yurika Kubothe voices of Kiyotaka Ayanokouji and Kikyou Kushida, respectively. More information on this sequel project will be announced during this broadcast. Finally, the author Shougo Kinugasa wrote on Twitter: “To all the “Classroom of the Elite” fans around the world. Thank you for your patience. Shougo Kinugasa and Shunsaku Tomose they began publishing the light novels through the imprint MF Bunko J from the publisher Media Factory in May 2015. The publisher published a total of fourteen volumes (including the intermediate ones: 4.5, 7.5 and 11.5). Subsequently, the sequel titled Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e: 2-nensei-hen (Classroom of the Elite: Second Year) in January 2020. The franchise already has more than 6 million cumulative copies in circulation.
