Clermont-Ferrand: a transition season at the Comédie de Clermont

A new chapter opens at the Comédie de Clermont. Céline Bréant took charge of the national stage in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme) at the beginning of the month and she has just presented the main lines of her project.

A new story is being written at the Comédie de Clermont. After years of struggle, the national stage of Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme) finally has its dedicated place and the management is now occupied by Céline Bréant, who has taken over from Jean-Marc Grangier, who has retired.

Meet the people of Auvergne

This season 2021 – 2022 is very busy, with many postponed and rescheduled shows.

In the future, the Comédie de Clermont will return to its usual rhythm, with between 30 and 40 shows scheduled each year. Even if she comes from the world of dance, Céline Bréant promises a program where “theater will be treated on an equal footing with dance“.

The new director also wants to meet the inhabitants of Clermont-Ferrand and Puy-de-Dôme who tell themselves that the work of the Comedy is not made for them. “I am committed to working with people who do not dare to come and who do not want to come. So the idea is to go and meet them and go to the places where they are to offer spectacular shapes or workshops.“, explains Céline Bréant.

At the same time, the Comedy also wants to open its doors more widely. By launching a season of balls in the hall of lost steps or by organizing “Playtime” weekends, which will look like open house weekend with shows, workshops or exhibitions.

Céline Bréant also promises a special attention for young audiences, with shows for very young children, schoolchildren and adolescents.
