The 23-year-old player from Houston, Kevin Porter JR., was taken into custody Monday for alleged assault and strangulation of his girlfriend who, suffering from neck pain and a cut to the face, was hospitalized. Locked out of his hotel room, Kevin Porter Jr. allegedly asked the establishment’s security to help him return, according to the story reported by several media. That’s when he attacked his partner, former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick.
The couple was seen at an event during Fashion Week. Chosen in the first round of the NBA draft in 2019, Porter Jr. played one season for the Cleveland Cavaliers before being traded to the Rockets in January 2021. The Houston club said in a press release “gathering information on the case” involving the player.
