Closure of the Opel plant: Unions call for a comprehensive social plan

Promises made by Stellantis have evaporated

Vienna (OTS) – “The announced closure of the Opel plant in Vienna Aspern is bad news for the workforce. Our first priority is to inform the employees and to do everything together with the works council to ensure that a comprehensive social plan is drawn up in a timely manner,” said union chairmen Reinhold Binder (PRO-GE) and Barbara Teiber (GPA).

The closure of the plant shows that all promises made by Stellantis have vanished into thin air, and now 300 workers are losing their jobs. “That’s 300 individual fates. We will work to ensure that the best possible solutions are worked out for those affected. The aim must be to be able to offer high-quality jobs to the employees who have been made redundant as quickly as possible,” emphasize Binder and Teiber.
