Cole Palmer scores four goals in 20 minutes to make Premier League history

This Saturday afternoon, at half-time of the Chelsea – Brighton match, played as part of the sixth day of the Premier League, the Blues lead 4-2. The Londoners’ four goals were scored by their playmaker, Cole Palmer, between the 21st and 41st minutes. According to Opta, never in the entire history of the Premier League, created in 1992, has a player scored a quadruple before the break.

These goals are partly explained by the feverishness of the Seagulls defense, which, under the pressure of the Blues, lost balls leading to the first (21st) and fourth goal (41st) from Palmer, who also took advantage good services from Nicolas Jackson and Jadon Sancho respectively. The English international’s two other achievements (8 caps, two goals) came from set pieces, namely a penalty (28th) and a splendid free kick, executed from around 25 meters, which found the top corner of Bart Verbruggen (31st).
