Collision in Mirabel: the BEI launches an investigation after the death of two individuals

The Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI) announced on Sunday the launch of an investigation in Mirabel following a doubly fatal collision a few hours earlier.

Around 1 a.m., police officers from the Ville de Saint-Jérôme Police Department (SPVSJ) reportedly received a 9-1-1 call following a report of a stolen vehicle.

When the police arrived on the scene, they tried to intercept the driver. Instead of stopping at the arrival of the patrollers, he decided to speed up, triggering a short pursuit.

In a ramp of Highway 15, just in front of a car dealership, the fleeing vehicle would have hit a second vehicle.

Both vehicles reportedly caught fire. The driver died and a passenger in the victim vehicle succumbed to his injuries.

Five BEI investigators were assigned to investigate the circumstances of the intervention.
