Colombia is one of the first countries to tax junk food to curb lifestyle diseases. It has been decided to start from 10 percent and increase it to 20 percent by 2025. Although other countries have introduced taxes on tobacco and soft drinks, Colombia is creating a model in this regard. The Junk Food Act comes into force following years of campaigning.
