SUGAR GROVE, Ill. (AP) — Sebastián Muñoz took the lead early from a large group of chasers Saturday, and went through his first five holes in five under par.
The Colombian delivered a card of 63 strokes, eight under par, and took a three-shot lead in the LIV Golf tournament in Chicago, following two rounds.
Muñoz was tied with four other golfers for the lead following the first of three rounds. He started with three straight birdies at Rich Harvest Farms and holed out from 123 yards on the par-4 5th hole for an eagle.
Muñoz’s total is 129 strokes, 13 under par. He has a three-shot lead over Anirban Lahiri, who carded a bogey-free 66.
Mexican Abraham Ancer birdied six holes during a stretch of seven in the final stretch of his round for a score of 66. He was tied for third place with Dustin Johnson (66) and Thomas Pieters (67).
All of them are five impacts from the top.
Cameron Smith, the points leader, shot a round of 71 and was 11 behind.
Brooks Koepka is the only golfer among the LIV 48 who will play in the Ryder Cup next week. The PGA champion had a day of 69 and was eight strokes off the lead.
Spaniard Sergio García, one of five golfers tied for first place following the first round, was left without a chance following a card of 73.
