Canterbury ∙ The Onam celebration of Canterbury Keralalites Association, one of the leading local organizations of UK Malayalis, was colorful. The Onam celebrations started with the Attapupkala competition under the leadership of Association President Babychan Maniyananchira Pala.
Various competitions for children and adults brightened the Onam celebrations. In the followingnoon Kudi prepared a feast for regarding 750 Malayalees. The Thiruvathira match that followed left everyone in Onalahari. At four o’clock the official inauguration was held under the leadership of the office-bearers accompanied by the Maveli costume and accompanied by the orchestra.
New officers of the association were elected. President Siju Kuriakos, Anto Abraham as secretary, Lito Koruth as treasurer, Jimmy Kunnissery as vice president, Sunoj Jacob as joint secretary, Joby Joseph, Renish Katankavil, AB Matthai and Biju Theketala as committee members were elected. Onam celebrations ended at night with greetings to the new committee office bearers.
