When traveling abroad, citizens will be able to buy comprehensive car protection instead of separate local insurance.
From January 1, 2024, it is planned to launch the so-called “Blue Card” in our country. This is a separate system of international auto insurance with friendly countries.
As told in the Russian Union of Auto Insurers, it will work by analogy with the usual “Green Card”. When traveling abroad in their car, citizens will be able to buy comprehensive coverage instead of separate local insurance in each state.
An agreement has already been reached with the Republic of Belarus, and agreements are also being worked out with Turkey, Azerbaijan and other friendly countries. The certificates will be cheaper than individual foreign coverages, according to “News».
The launch of the new system is explained by the fact that the membership of the Russian Federation in the Green Card system is planned to be suspended at the end of this month. All foreign certificates will cease to be valid on the territory of our country, and domestic ones – abroad. And it will affect even friendly countries. At the same time, Green Cards issued in Russia before July 1 will still be accepted in Belarus, Turkey and Azerbaijan during their validity period.
