Breaking News: Ferrara’s Cultural Scene Lights Up with Music Events at Certosa
Music at Dawn: Gerhard String Quartet Enthralls Audience
This morning, Sunday 22 June, Ferrara’s Certosa was filled with the enchanting sounds of the Gerhard string quartet. This young and acclaimed Catalan formation, composed of Lluís Castán and Judit Bardolet on violins, Miquel Jordà on viola, and Jesús Miralles on cello, performed as part of the “Praise of madness” project. This initiative explores the relationship between extreme experiences, psyche, and emotion.
The concert, held in silence and anticipation, featured a selection of pieces from Bach, Schumann, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Janáček, Bartók, Alban Berg, and Shostakovich. Attendees were treated to a sensory journey through more than two centuries of musical history, amplified by the nascent light and the extraordinary setting of the Certosa.
Organized by Ferrara Tua and under the artistic direction of Ferrara Musica, the event was open to all. Free admission was available from Viale della Certosa on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sunset Concert: A Masterpiece of Sacred Music
Tonight at 9:30 pm, the Certosa will once again be the stage for a special evening of sacred music. The Cittra di Ferrara orchestra, directed by Maestro Massimo Raccanelli, will perform alongside the “Vittore Veneziani” choral academy, directed by Master of the Choir Teresa Auletta. Vocalists Sara Minieri (soprano), Giulia Alletto (mezzo-soprano), Simone Fenotti, and Gianluca Failla (tenors) will join the ensemble.
The soloists, selected and trained by Maestro Leone Magiera, are of great artistic caliber. Magiera is known for his work with legendary talents such as Luciano Pavarotti and Mirella Freni. This performance promises to immerse the audience in harmonies amidst the evening’s fall suggestions in a place of profound beauty and history.
Organized by Ferrara Tua and under the artistic direction of the Teatro Comunale Foundation, the event will open its gates at 8:30 PM. Admission is from Viale della Certosa at a symbolic cost of 1 euro, with tickets available on Teatrocomunaleferrara.it, at the Teatro ticket office, or on-site if still available.
