Construction of cobblestones begins in San Lorenzo and other cities of Central

Asunción, IP Agency.- In the Barrio del Agrónomo de San Lorenzo, road works began as part of an improvement package that will also benefit other towns in the Central department, with the support of Itaipu Binacional.

The work started corresponds to the sections of Calle Dalia casi Maria Auxiliadora and Calle Alelí. According to the Work Plan, the sections approved in the municipality of San Lorenzo total 1,348 linear meters.

The mayor of San Lorenzo, Felipe Salomón, the municipal councilor Juan Manuel Añazco and local residents participated in the activity. Itaipu was represented by the Superintendent of Works and Development, Ignacio Brítez; and the head of the Regional Interaction Department, Julio Correa; in addition to representatives of the agreement.

On the occasion, the mayor from San Lorenz thanked the Binational for its support in carrying out the road works, emphasizing that they are very necessary in the benefited neighborhoods for the comfortable and safe circulation of the residents.

The road improvement works for departments of the Eastern Region are part of the agreement between Itaipu and the Nuevo Horizonte Association that was signed in December 2022 and is currently under development in accordance with the approved Work Plan.

The term for the concretion of the cobblestone type pavements is 18 months. Through this agreement, the road works will be carried out in the departments of Alto Paraná, San Pedro, and Central, among others.

In Upper Paraná, the beneficiary localities are Ciudad del Este, Presidente Franco, Minga Guazú and Minga Porã. In the Central department, paving stones will be built in the districts of San Lorenzo, Lambaré, Luque and Itauguá, while in San Pedro the cities of Lima and Antequera will be favored.

Likewise, the Works Superintendency of the Entity’s Coordination Directorate reported that road improvement works will begin shortly in Alto Paraná.

In the construction process of the works contemplated in the aforementioned agreement, technicians from the Itaipu Coordination Department will permanently monitor and supervise the works carried out, according to the reports of the agreement.

Likewise, the Entity participates in the analysis and approval of the partial and total accountability for the closing of the agreement.
