On Thursday, the Eurocup women’s European basketball match was played in Antwerp between the Malines Kangaroos and the Turkish team Besiktas. The match also witnessed a controversial gesture by Turkish supporters.

The latter displayed a banner reading “Stop doing what Hitler did to you”, in reference to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, as reported by Het Laatste Nieuws. The scene then caused the match to be interrupted for several minutes but did not prevent the Kangaroos from winning the match with a score of 83-74.

However, incidents followed the end of the match, involving attacks on members of the press. The police then intervened with security personnel, causing a brief altercation with the police outside the stadium.
