Controversial Iraqi Refugee Found Dead in Norway: The Story of Salwan Momika

Baghdad: Iraqi refugee Salwan Momika, who gained notoriety by burning the Holy Quran several times in public, was found dead in Norway. It is reported that he died while seeking asylum in Norway following leaving Sweden. Momika recently hinted at moving from Sweden to Norway. He said he had applied for asylum and protection from the Norwegian authorities and would continue to fight once morest Islamic ideology at any cost.

‘Today I left Sweden and am now in Norway under the protection of the Norwegian authorities. I applied for asylum and international protection in Norway. Because Sweden does not shelter philosophers and thinkers. But they only accept asylum for terrorists,’ Momika accused through X. Multiple social media handles claimed that Salwan’s lifeless body was found in Norway. However, no official explanation has yet been received from the Norwegian authorities.

On Bakrid 2023, Salwan Momika desecrated the Holy Quran outside a Stockholm mosque in Sweden which sparked protests. The Qur’an was burned and trampled on a strip and stamped with his foot. He was joined by another protester who translated Momika’s words. He fled to Sweden from Iraq several years ago and lived in Jerna Municipality, Södertalje, Stockholm County.
