Kochi: Clash at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, Ernakulam over the offering of a unified mass. Opponents of the unified Mass locked the gate from the inside. The locked gate was broken by the opposite side. They tried to push into the basilica and were forced out by the police. Mass was celebrated in the Basilica. The other side remains outside in protest.
The Apostolic Administrator, Archbishop Mar Andrews, who had come to celebrate the unified Mass, was stopped at the Basilica. Mar Andrews returned downstairs unable to enter the basilica. Police are negotiating with both parties.
