Riyadh: Saudi Transport Authority has prepared electric scooters for Hajj pilgrims. The Public Transport Authority has started electric scooter service between Kadana station in Mina and ‘Bab Ali’ station which reaches Haram. The project was inaugurated by Transport and Logistics Minister Ng. Performed by Salih bin Nasser Aljazar.
The authority has prepared 1,000 electric scooters for the pilgrims. Last year, the service of electric scooters was started on trial basis to facilitate the movement of pilgrims. Special lanes have also been prepared for this purpose. Electric scooters are a great relief for pilgrims. The authority has appointed a special team to create awareness in this regard.
During this year’s Hajj, Arafat and Mina were experiencing hotter temperatures than previous years. It is estimated that 6,300 pilgrims sought treatment for sunburn. So far, 2,15,000 pilgrims have sought treatment in various hospitals in Saudi Arabia. As it was a chance for those above 65 years of age following a gap of three years, the senior citizens turned up in large numbers this time.
