Not cookies. Not cookies. Krapferl, is what my family says regarding the traditional Christmas cookies. A false definition that sees the whole for a small subset without being it. A donut has no more to do with a donut than Santa Claus has to do with Santa Claus. And yet: Krapferl are what are created when our family gets together once a year to bake together for Christmas.
